Gundam Virsago and Gundam Ashtaron Officially Join the HGAW GunPla Series for Gundam X’s 30th Anniversary

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of After War Gundam X, Bandai has officially announced that Gundam Virsago and Gundam Ashtaron will be joining the HGAW GunPla series, finally bringing the Frost brothers’ iconic mobile suits into the modern lineup. The prototypes of both model kits were first revealed during the 64th Shizuoka Hobby Show.

Leading the reveal is Gundam Virsago, one of the most memorable rival mobile suits from Gundam X. Its sinister design, massive shoulder binders, and sharp proportions still look incredible even today, making it a perfect fit for the HGAW series. Fans have been waiting years to see Virsago receive a modern GunPla adaptation, and seeing it finally realized with updated engineering feels long overdue.

Alongside it comes Gundam Ashtaron, bringing back its bulky armor, aggressive silhouette, and signature transformable features that made it stand out during the late 90s era of Gundam. Even in early display form, the kit already captures the intimidating presence that made Ashtaron such a fan favorite among Gundam X collectors.

With both Gundam Virsago and Gundam Ashtaron finally entering the HGAW lineup, Bandai’s 30th anniversary celebration for After War Gundam X is shaping up to be a massive win for longtime fans of the series.
